Risk Engineering: Assessing the Probable Maximum Losses from natural catastrophes for London Array offshore

Situated approximately 20km off the coast of Kent, England is London Array offshore wind farm. Spanning 100km2 and comprising 175 turbines, the site was selected for its strong and consistent wind conditions, relatively shallow waters and proximity to the UK’s electrical grid infrastructure.
This report is an overview of a comprehensive Probable Maximum Loss assessment completed for London Array. It offers a high-level summary of losses from extreme wind events in the region, considering both property damage and business interruption for a number of different scenarios.
Renew Risk was commissioned to consider how these events could cause potential failures of the assets, and to quantify property damage and business interruption while repair and replacement is carried out.
