Model vs Reality: rethinking catastrophe risk across growing solar portfolios

In person

Agenda

Solar is becoming an increasingly important part of the energy mix, with larger, costlier assets coming online and in greater concentrations of exposure across portfolios. This growth comes with a risk: a single severe weather system can impact multiple sites. Inconsistent event definitions, fixed modelling assumptions, and a focus on individual locations can distort the view of loss, aggregation, and portfolio risk.

This session will explore how the industry can better align models with reality and improve the way multi-site catastrophe risk is understood, modelled and insured.

Throughout this session, speakers will:

  • Explore how event definitions shape loss and aggregation across solar portfolios.

  • Discuss the growing risk of multi-site losses.

  • Examine where traditional models fall short for solar.

  • Share insurer and broker perspectives on underwriting, claims and portfolio exposure.

  • Consider how more flexible modelling and collaboration can improve risk understanding.

Attendance is by invitation only. To request a seat, please complete the form. Confirmed attendees will need to bring a physical photo ID to gain entry to the Lloyd’s building.
